Sunday evening

I do love Sundays. Something about them just feels calming. No work. Of course, I don't really work much during the week but mom does.
I think it's been a little over a week since I wrote. Not too much happening. A couple of good things and a couple of bad things. We'll start with the bad;
It rained! I know the rain is good for the grass and all that crap but it means no walks for us. I hate that. It rained 3 days this week. Mom was like "I'm not going out in the mess.... yada, yada, yada." What does she think she's made of ... Sugar? I can tell you she's not. So, we didn't get walks half of the week and she seems to think she made it up to us today by doing a really long walk. No such luck. Buddy and I keep count of how many days we sit at home. Well, at least I do. He has trouble counting. The other bad thing is that mom went out a couple of nights. She doesn't have a life!! why is she going out? One night it was a poetry reading and one night a movie. Then tonight she's going to aunt Jane's house. She says she's tired of sitting home all the time. Well EXCUSE ME! We like her to sit at home.
Now for the good stuff... Mom was all excited this week for the new president. She did the happy dance so that made us happy. also, Momma Renee sent us presents! There was a toy that looks like a tick. Mom pulled it out of the box and I grabbed it! Then she pulled out one that looks like a flea. Buddy grabbed it. Now, we all know that buddy doesn't even like toys. He just grabbed it because he wanted me to chase him. So to make him happy I did. Then I grabbed the toy and started squeaking it. So then he ran and grabbed the other toy. This time I didn't fall for his ploy. I let him have it. Sure enough in a couple of minutes he grew tired of it. He rolled on his back on top of it and grunted a bunch like a lunatic. then he lost interest and went to sit in the window and bark at the squirrels. I now have both toys! my plan worked. AND they have squeakers in them. I love the squeaker. I squeaked for a few hours until mom said she was losing her mind and made me stop. Sorry.
So that was most of the week. Mom's been hitting the movies trying to get ready for the Oscars. She saw Doubt, Slumdog Millionaire, the Reader and Milk. She said they were all good but she still has a few more on her list. I still think Marley and Me should have been nominated for something. Maybe best actor for Marley :)
Okay. I gotta go bug Buddy.

Hump day

It's Wednesday. Hump day. I think everyday is hump day for Buddy. ha ha. Our last week was pretty good. We got a walk 5 of the 7 days. and this week we've walked everyday. I love it! So lets see what's going on.... Mom has been using that treadmill everyday. Tonight she went 3 miles on it. I find it incredibly boring. Who enjoys running in the living room? Why not run outside? Sasha came up to visit on Saturday. Her and mom sat around and watched movies and ate scones. Yum. Then on Sunday mom went to dinner with the Hastings. It was JH's B-Day this last week. He is 15 years old! Holy cow that's old.
Today in the park we had a little excitement. There's this beagle who lives down the street named Patrick. Patrick is super loud. Whenever he sees us he starts to howl. i mean really howl. You've never heard such a loud noise. Patrick can't be much bigger than Buddy but he sounds like he's giant. Once about 6 months ago he got off his leash and ran at us. Buddy ran around mom's legs and got her all tangled and I pulled out of my collar and took off. Not that I was scared. I just didn't want to hurt him. Then the next time we saw him, mom thought it might be a good idea if we all smelled each other. But I got a little snippy and then Patrick got a little snippy. After that, mom and Patrick's mom decided we shouldn't be near each other. Now when we see him, we go the other way. But this evening we were in the park and it was getting kind of dark. all of a sudden we heard Patricks mom calling him. Sure enough he had gotten off the leash and was running towards us. But this time mom bent down and started saying "hey sweet boy". I was like... what are you doing? Don't be nice to that boy! But Patrick ran up and then he and Buddy sniffed each other. I ran up to mom because I didn't want to rip his neck open. Patrick and Buddy circled each other and then ... Patrick took off towards his mom. Chicken little! I showed him.
So that's the excitement. the weather has been pretty nice. It was 60 today. It felt like spring. I don't think much else is happening this week. The house is a mess so hopefully there is some house cleaning on the agenda.

January

It's January 3rd 2009! I do love a new year. it makes me reflective. I'm a dog who likes to set goals for each year and then really work to reach them. Let's see... here are some of my goals for 2009
- Bark for 20 minutes non stop each day at the mailman.
- Sleep past 7am each morning.
- Don't get out of bed when mom does each morning. Make her come back to the bedroom to check on me.
- bark at mom when she comes home from work until she takes us for a walk.
- Take the time to enjoy our daily walks. Look at the birds and the squirrels.

That should do it. Mom is all about exercise, weight loss, finances, yada, yada yada. Who cares about those things. What is really important is the time we get to spend with her. I think the goal for 2009 is to spend more time with the people we love.
Yikes... I can't believe I just said something so sappy. it makes me want to bite someone.
Quick update for everyone-- Mom took a 2 day trip to Las Vegas for New Years. She met up with her friend Sasha and they stayed up late each night eating and drinking and gambling. She came home late last night and she looked tired. I mean really tired. Today she just laid around most of the day. It is suppose to be the day to take down all the Christmas decoration but she only made it through one room. She still hasn't gotten to the tree. At this rate we'll have the tree up for Valentines day. Aunt Rory stayed with us while mom was gone. that's always good.
this week things get back to normal. Hopefully. Mom said there will be no more sweets, cookies, candy or junk food. We are going on a salad, veggie diet. Yuck. Plus that stupid treadmill is coming out again. We'll see how long it last.
Happy 2009 everyone!
